ROYAL DUNEDIN MALE CHOIR
On. Monday week, in the Town Hall, the Royal Dunedin Male Choir intend* to present a concert. In view of thi* being the silver jubilee year of tb« accession of His Majesty King Georg* V. to the throne the second part of the programme will be a national one, the arrangement of the item* being designed to show the choir at it* best in the presentation of the most beautiful and popular airs in its library. Four new songs will be sung, ‘ Song of the Vikings r and the traditional song, * You Gentlemen of England’• both arranged by Thomas F. Dunhill, ‘Two Grenadiers’ (Schumann), am| * Cornish Fiddlers’ Song ’ (a tunefuj folk song), arranged by S. R. Gaines, and then seven other part songs. Mis* Alva Myers, of Kaitangata, who wa* recently successful as a soloist in Aus. tralia, has been engaged for the oc* casion. The famous sextette from ‘ Lucia di Lammermoor ’ (Donizetti), by pupils of Mr Walmsloy, will also b* presented. Mias Ngaio Garland will five violin solos. The choir soloists ar« lessrs Murray Hood and J. E. R. Benton (basses) and Mr John Kennedy (tenor). Mr John Galloway (baritone) has been allotted an incidental solo. The booking will be opened at Begg’s on, Friday mornings
