DUKE OF GLOUCESTER
INVESTED WITH INSIGNIA OF G.G.M.G. BRILLIANT SCENE AT FIRST COURT Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, March 28. (Received March 29, at 2.30 p.m.)
A Court circular announces that His Majesty has invested the Duke of Gloucester with the insignia of G.C.M.G., and has also invested Major-general Howard-Vyse with a K.C.M.G., Captain Curtis with a K.C.V.0., and Captain Kerr with a C.M.G.
The Duke of Gloucester is resting and did not attend the first court of the season at Buckingham Palace, at which the King wore a scarlet uniform as Colonel-in-Chief of the Lifeguards. Tho Queen was gowned in opalescent paillettes, the colours of which were over changing as she moved under a halfgold light from a candelabra, while diamonds and emeralds glittered in her corsage and hair. The ballroom was magnificently decorated 1 with spring flowers.
The Court was the first in living memory held in _ March, which was essential to avoid interference with the jubilee celebrations in May.
