ALL BUCK TRIALS

AT DUNEDIN MAY 25 UNION APPROVES ITINERARY Special interest will attach to the coming Rugby football season since the form exhibited by the players will have an important bearing on. the constitution of the team which is going to tour the Home counties, and will possibly visit Canada and the United States. Information which has been published in the ‘ Evening Post ’ suggests very strongly that the All Blacks will be chosen after a final Possibles v. Probables match in Wellington on June 15. As the team will be leaving for England at the end of July it is recognised that the task of getting the right side together will have to be carried out expeditiously, thpugh, with no visit to Australia as a preliminary to the big tour, there will be a little more time than in the case of the selections of the 1924 team. The New Zealand Ilugby Union’s Management Committee has given full consideration to the question of how to make the best use of the time. The staging of a comprehensive series of trials will occupy a period of live weeks, but the programme is so drawn up that the players are not likely to be unduly rushed into the trials. Provision is being made for the unions throughout the dominion to lie given the opportunity of getting their club competitions properly under way before the trials are staged, it being likely that at least four weeks of club matches, in addition to the usual special matches round about Easter time, will be possible before the trials take place. That course should give players a reasonable chance of striking form good enough to warrant their being sent forward as candidates for the New Zealand team. The series of trials will be commenced with a Maori match, and there will also be a Maori match to top it off—that played annually for the Prince of Wales Cup. The big week will be from June 8 to June 15, as during that period four Possibles v. Probables matches will be played, the last two in Wellington. The following itinerary has been approved by the New Zealand l Rugby Union’s Management Committee, and is being sent forward to affiliated unions for their information ; Saturday, April 27.—Club matches.
