BRINGING THE SEA TO THE SHIP.—H.M.S. Deptford, a 1000 ton sloop, was constructed at the bottom of a dry dock at Chatham recently, instead of on a building slip as is usual. When the vessel was finished the water was admitted, the gates opened, and the ship towed away.
