ST. GLAIR CARNIVAL
Given fine weather it is safe to say that the St. Clair Esplanade will be the rendezvous of many thousands of pleasure-seekers to-night. The fact that the St. Kilda Band' (the New land champion) will be making its first public appearance since winning the honour, is certain to appeal, more especially when it is known that the band will march and play the quickstep test selection. The New Zealand champ! on swimmers will also be seen in action, as will the representative life-saving team. The Surf Club canoes will disport themselves in the flood-lit breakers, and there will also be a burlesque life-saving effort. Younger patrons will be catered for in the afternoon with treasure hunts, sand modelling competitions, and Thomson’s ponies—while the grown-ups can witness a complete whippet race meeting on the beach. There will be an augmented tram service running up to midnight.
