BRITISH FORCES ATTACKED RAIDERS HEAVILY DEFEATED Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright CALCUTTA, February 26. ’ The Fakir of Alingarh, known as (' the Mad Fakir-’’,-and a notorious North-West Frontier raider, is again causing trouble, necessitating, action »y British and Indian troops, with artillery and the Air Force.- The fakir, with a force of over 400 well-armed Utmankhel tribesmen, crossed the Swat River into the Kalakand area, which is under British administration, and attacked the Imperial forces, who were constructing a defensive post to guard against further incursions. After continual sniping and frequent night raids the tribesmen were forced into open conflict, in which they were heavily defeated, suffering many casualties and retreating across the Swat River. The British and Indian troops lost one-killed and two wounded. .
