ELLIS AND CO.'S PICNIC

Favoured by a day of bright sunshine, a large .number of eager picnickers journeyed to Warrington on Saturday, the occasion being the first picnic held by the combined factory and warehouse staffs of the firm of Arthur- Ellis and Co. Thanks to the efficient organising of an energetic committee, led by Mr J. Jenkins (chairman), the whole clay’s entertainment was run without a hitch, and a large programme of events was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The firm supplied everything in the way of prizes, and a generous supply of ice cream, fruit, lollies, and soft drinks proved a popular item with the many children who were present. Bathing, cricket, and boating found many supporters. At the conclusion of the day’s sport Mrs Roland and Mrs Norman Ellis presented the prizes. On behalf of the employees and friends Mr Jenkins proposed a vote of thanks to the principals of the firm, which was heartily given by all. Mr Norman Ellis capably controlled the running events, and Mr Roland Ellis proved a capable judge. The following is the list of prizewinners : “ Sleepwcll ” Handicap, 100yds, men. —MrJ. Dclalmnty.
