VICKI BAUM STORY
MAIN NEW FILM FOR STRAND Tho excellent film ‘ I Give My Love will be screened for the first time at the Strand Theatre to-morrow. The story is adapted from the novel by Vicki Baum, who also wrote ‘ Grand Hotel.’ The film is a splendid romance, and there arc also some fine comedy touches. The leading role is taken bv Paul Lukas, whose polished portrayals in ‘Bv Candlelight ’ and ‘ Little Women - ’ have made him popular with all types of audiences. Wynne Gibson appears in the other principal role. The film adaption of Damon Runyon s oripping magazine story, ‘ Million Hollar Ransom.’ which wilt be the second picture on the new bill, is crowded with thrills. It tells of a young man who, in order to save his mother from marrying a worthless adventurer, conceived the idea of having himself kidnapped and held to ransom. The hoax turns to tragedv when a band of desperate gunmen take a hand in the game. Mary Carlisle and Phillips Holmes appear to advantage as the hero and heroine, and others in the strong cast are Andy Devine, Robert Gleckler, and Marjorie Gateson.
