RIFLE SHOOTING
WEST TAIERI DEFENCE CLUB On Saturday the club fired a practise match, the conditions beings seven shots at 300yds, 500yds, and 600yds. The day was fine, but the changing light proved rather troublesome. Members of the team going to Trentham (using 1933 ammunition) fired a match with the rest of the club (using 1922 ammunition), which resulted in a win for the good ammunition. At 300yds the best scores were Dep. Pres. H. W. Brookes 33, Pres A. T. Graham and Rifleman D. G. Wyllie both with 32. At 500yds conditions were good, and some excellent scores were registered, Pres. A. T. Graham, Deppres. H. W. Brookes, and Rifleman D. G. Wyllie all securing possibles, While Rifleman H. Fraser and W. J. Irving secured 34 apiece. At 600yds Pres. A. T. Graham topped the score with 34 (five bull finish), closely followed by Rifleman W. J. Irving with 33. Pres. A. T. Graham headed the day’s aggregate with the excellent score of 32, 35, 34 (101 ex 105). The following are the highest scores:—
