ASCOT MEETING
MELBOURNE, February 3. At the Ascot races yesterday the Federation Welter, Im, resulted:— Maybe 8.12 (Murphy) and Earli Leicester 8.9 (Evans), dead heat, 1; Shining Gold, 8.5 (Percival), 3. Eleven started. A head separated the dead heaters and third. Time, Imin 43iseo. First Money was unplaced m the Flying Handicap. An' interesting nomination for the Marine Handicap at Williamstown next Saturday is Manitoba (9-0), which was recently brought from England, but was regarded as an unlikely starter.
