Charles Barrett, a nineteen-year-old motor cyclist, was carried into court on a stretcher, which was placed on the solicitors’ table, from which position he gave evidence that Jupp’s car, which was on the wrong side of the road, came straight at him. Moysey, who was riding on the pillion seat, was killed. Jupp told the police that his car skidded uncontrollably. [A previous message stated; Following the death in hospital of Denis Moysey, aged nineteen, one of two youths on a motor cycle with which the Northampton cricketer Jupp collided in his motor car on January 12, Jupp was charged with manslaughter. He was not present in court, a doctor stating that ho was suffering from concussion and multiple injuries, causing insomnia and nocturnal delirium, necessitating soporific drugging. The prosecuting counsel said that police officers had visited Jupp and found him normal, fie regarded the doctor’s evidence as unsatisfactory.]
