Chief interest centred \n the appearance of the Victorians, Eweu and Kay, who were suited by the fast courts. Revelling in hard hitting and speed, they won their matches easily, occasionally showing signs of brilliance. ■ The most interesting of (he other gamrs was that between Seay (Canterbury) and Partridge (Remuera). The latter started badly, but later struck form, and started to worry the southerner. Two sets all were called, Partridge having gone for bis shots with certainty and confidence. Seay forced the pace in the final set to win it, 6-2, Partridge tiring at the end under the sustained attack of a shrewd tactician..
