Valuable .assistance in the form of two fellowships annually will be given to selected New Zealand students to continue their studies at the Institute of Education of the University of London through a grant made by the Carnegie Corporation of New York to the institute. A letter to this ell'cct was received by Professor Hunter, Vice-Chancellor of the New Zealand University, from Dr T. Percy Nunn, director of the institute, and rend at a meeting of the University Senate to-day. The students will be required to spend at least a year in study or research in the institute or under its guidance. Fellowships will be tenable for one year only, and the value will be 1,250 United States dollars. Two each will be allotted to New Zealand, Canada, Australia, and South Africa.

It is suggested in the letter that the persons nominated should be young Inen or women of ability, who have had experience in teaching or educational administration, and who have given evidence that they are likely to play important parts in education. The Fellow must bind himself to return to his own country within a reasonable time after the conclusion of his studies in London. The colleges of the University of New Zealand will be asked to nominate suitable candidates, the selection to be left to the committee which deals with examination results received in April.
