ST. CLAIR CARNIVAL
FIXED FOR NEXT MONTH It has been definitely decided by the St. Clair Improvement Association to hold a carnival on February 21, 22, and 23 for the purpose of raising funds to assist in beach improvement generally. A meeting of the executive of the association was held in the surf bathing pavilion last night to discuss preliminary arrangements, members of the public interested in the carnival or willing to assist also being present. Mr R. C. Love (president), who was in the chair, outlined the tentative arrangements. It was hoped, he said, to create a carnival spirit, and it was felt there would be no difficulty in getting people to attend in large numbers. There would be a cabaret, half-hour entertainments, beach competitions, aquatic events, various games and stalls, whippet racing on the Saturday afternoon, a bathing beauty competition, and other attractions. The beach and breakers would be lit by Hood lighting. Preliminary reports were submitted by the conveners of various committees, these showing that the project was being taken up enthusiastically. It was stated that the members of the Life Saving Club would give every assistance.
It was decided to call a meeting of the Ladies’ Committee next Monday night, and to hold a meeting of the full committee next Tuesday night.
