AUCKLAND WINS BY 438 RUNS TOWNSEND DISMISSES WELLINGTON CHEAPLY [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, January 22. Auckland won the Plunkct Shield match by 438 runs. As was anticipated, Auckland won the Plunket Shield match decisively. The remaining six Wellington batsmen were disposed of in an hour and a-balf. The English coach, Townsend, • took five of the six wickets for 12 runs, making seven for 27 in the innings. The only colourful feature of the morning’s play was a spectacular on& handed catch by Sale m the outfield to dispose of Lamason. Later he also caught Blundell. After the game, the Wellington captain, on behalf of the team, made a presentation to Whitelaw in recognition of his double century. Details— AUCKLAND.
