ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
FALL OVER EMBANKMENT. Alec Bedford, a boy ten years of age, who resides with his parents at 390 King street, fell over an embankment at the Botanic Gardens yesterday afternoon. as a result of which he suffered concussion and head injuries. The kd was admitted to the hospital at 5.45. CRUSHED UNDER LOG. Archibald G. Drummond, aged 55, married, was fatally crushed at Smythe Bros, and Bowyers’ sawmill at Arohana, 25 miles from Te Awamutu, yesterday morning. The deceased was unloading a large rimu log from a truck on to the mill skids when it slipped, and before Drummond could jump clear crushed him, death being instantaneous. He leaves a widow and one son. LEG AMPUTATED. Percy Henry Read, married, aged thirty-eight, "a farmer, residing at Eiffelton, had his foot caught in the drum of a machine while harvesting and his leg was drawn into the machine. He was rushed to the hospital, where his leg was amputated at the knee. His condition is satisfactory.—Ashburton Press Association.,
