STATE OF BEACHES . “ Keep between the flags ” should b« the maxim of bathers at the three beaches—St. Clair, St. Kilda, and Tomahawk—during the week-end. Outside the flagged areas there are many dangerous holes. The St. Clair Life-saving Club reports that, apart from those cavities, the St. Clair beach is in splendid condition,although the heavy seas of last week carried away large_ quantities of sand. The temperature of the water is warm.A smooth sea and a mild temperature should make Tomahawk a favourite spot for bathers. The St. Kilda beach is in excellent order, there being a gradual slope that makes bathing safe outside the breakers, where there is an absence of holes* The temperature of the water is mild*
