BASIS OF GRAND'S FEATURES The popular American comedian Will Rogers appeal's in a typical role in the amusing picture ‘ Judge Priest, which will head the Grand’s two features commencing on Wednesday. He is cast as a kindly judge and his portrayal of this simple and homely character is excellent. * His performance compares very favourably with those of ‘ A Yankee in King Arthur’s Court’ and. ‘David Harum.’ The story is a successful combination of comedy, drama, and romance, and- provides entertainment of a high qualify. Other prominent artists in the cast are Rochelle Hudson and Anita Louise;. Adapted from the play by Roland Pertwee and John Hastings Turner, ‘The Night of the Party’ tells of, a dinner party arranged for business reasons by Lord Studholme, a powerful newspaper proprietor, the unwilling guests all having reason .to fear and hate him. After dinner one of the guests proposes a game called -‘ Murder.” Lights are lowered for a set period to permit the “ murderer ” to effect his faked “ killing,” after which it is the detective’s job to locate the criminal by asking the guests pertinent questions. When the lights were restored at this party, however. Lord Studholme is found dead—murdered— for the game had been played in earnest 1
