(Received November 19, at 10 a.m.) Maintaining the traditional Samurai code of loyalty and responsibility, Police Inspector Jubei Honda committed suicide with his own sword because he guided the Emperor to the wrong street while taking part in a procession through the city. The blunder was algo possibly the cause of the resignation of the Home Minister, the local governor, and others.. ’ .
It is recalled that a similar incident took place in the reign of Emperor Meiji, whose train was delayed for an hour owing to manoeuvres at Kyushu, whereupon the station master committed suicide. Recently a soldier lost his bayonet and committed suicide, as all weapons are the property of the Emperor. . ,
