As fragmentary reports continue to come from insular provinces it is estimated that between 200 and 300 people were killed by a typhoon which swept the islands in the middle of the week. Forty-one bodies have been recovered on Luzon Island, in which Manila is situated. No definite estimate can be made, as there are many islands from which no communication has yet been received. About 200 are believed to be dead in Tayabas province, where many ttere washed to sea.
