RETURNED SOLDIERS' CHOIR
An event of major importance in the history of the Dunedin Returned Soldiers’ Choir will take place in His Majesty’s Theatre on November 27, when the choir will give its jubilee recital. The programme arranged will open with a part song, conducted by the original conductor, Mr Paget Gale, accompanied by the first pianist, Mr Charles A. Martin. The choir will sing special tributes to the army and navy. Mrs Wilfred Andrews, the first lady soloist to appear at these concerts, will sing. Lady soloists representing Wellington, Canterbury, Southland, and Otago will combine into a choir and sing two numbers with string orchestral accompaniment. Mr Charles Martin is the solo pianist. By courtesy of the Barth School of Music eight brilliant pianists will play on four grand pianos the Liszt Rhapsody No. 2. The choir selections will include ‘ Songs of the Fleet ’ (soloist, Mr R. Duerdon), 1 A Scottish Lullaby ’ (soloist. Miss Noni Davidson), and ‘The Blue Danube,’ with orchestral accompahiment. Mr G. Crawford is the choir soloist. Lieutenant Napier’s Bugle Band will add a military note. Miss Sybil Baker is the accompanist, and Mr J. T. Leech will direct.
