RELIEF ALLOCATIONS
SYSTEM BEING REVIEWED [Per United Press Association.] HAMILTON, November 17. The statement that the whole system of _ unemployment relief allocations is being reviewed was made by the Hou. ; J. A. Young, Minister of Employment, in a special interview with the ‘ Waikato Times ’ to-day. Mr Young hopes to announce shortly some changes which will, improve the lot of citizens obliged to rely on unemployment relief, and who are on the lower grades of allocation. He said that as a matter of sound principle it was undesirable to bring unemployment relief benefits too close to the earnings obtainable in normal employment. He hoped, however, that the proposed changes would result in casing, at least, to some extent, the strain which the unemployed, especially those on the lower grades, were experiencing. In addition to the increases, it was hoped to bring about more uniformity in the niethod of calculating the allocations.
