[Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, November 15. ; Under the will of Mr Joseph Butler, formerly managing director of - the Kauri Timber Company Ltd., Melbourne, charitable bequests and gifts to organisations are made. For .probate purposes the value of the estate has been sworn at under £38,000. In addition to a large number of private bequests, the deceased left £2,700 to be distributed as follows Auckland Club £SOO Auckland Infirmary ■...: £SOO Manurewa Children’s Home ... £SOO Westland Hospital, Hokitika £SOO Butler Bros. , Ltd,, Ruatapu ... £SOO Grey River Hospital, Greymouth £IOO Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, Auckland £IOO The purpose of the bequest to Butler Bros. Ltd., Ruatapu, is to promote the "social life or improve the social conditions of the employees of the company. Mr Butler died in London at the age of seventy-two. Coming to New Zealand as a young man, he settled on the West Coast, and was subsequently identified with timber interests in Westland and Northern Wairoa. He was managing. director for New Zealand of the Kauri limber Company for thirteen years before his appointment to Melbourne. In 1927 he was president of the Auckland Club.
