ANOTHER EXPLOSION
GRESFORD MINE DISASTER IRON GIRDERS TWISTED LIKE WIRE Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, September 25. (Received September 26, at 10 a.m.) Another explosion occurred at Gresford through gases and fire bursting the sealed ventilating shaft. George Brown, who was working in the vicinity, was seriously injured, and died in hospital. Iron girders used for scaling were twisted like wire, and stray concrete was blown into the air. The explosion was felt a quarter of a mile away, and will involve the rescaling of the mine. NEW ZEALAND'S SYMPATHY WELLINGTON, September 25. The Governor-General (Lord Bledisloe) has sent the following telegram to the Secretary of State lor Dominion Affairs: —“ The Government and people of New Zealand have heard with great regret of the terrible mining disaster at Gresford colliery, near Wrexham, and desire to express their deep sympathy with the relatives of those who have lost their lives.”
