The Director-general of the Post and Telegraph Department, reports a Press Association message from Wellington, has received the following radio from Curacao: —“ To all shipmasters: Information is required concerning the American five-masted schooner Edna Hoyt, 1,512 tons gross, which sailed from New York on August 22, destined for St. Eustatius Island.” On the proposal to raise a loan of £30,000 for the permanent surfacing of the main highway between Ngaruawahia and Te Awamutu, Waipa Countyratepayers voted solidly in its favour yesterday, 1,205 votes being cast for and 147 against. The work will be subsidised by the Highways Board up to £115,000. The total estimated cost ra £145,000.
