MUNICIPAL BAND SALARIES

5 PER GENT, CUT RESTORED [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, September 13. Although members of the Municipal Band had decided that it would not be desirable at present for them to apply for a restoration of the cut in their salaries, the City Council decided last night to grant a 5 per cent, restoration as from April 1. Bandmaster Buckley had reported that ho had been under the impression that the band was not in the same category as other departments, inasmuch as the members fulfilled their duties in their spare time. The band had agreed almost unanimously, in view of the fewer engagements at present, that it would not be desirable to apply for a restoration of the cut.
