The Commonwealth Statistician rereports that although Australia’s birth rate in 1933 of 16.76 per 1,000 of population was the lowest ever recorded, the marriages in the same year were 46,395, the highest since 1929. The deaths of children under one year—namely, 4,3-57, were the lowest, witli the exception of New Zealand, in the world. Australia’s population increase in 1933 was 32,395.
