OUNEDiN STOCK EXCHANGE Markets generally continued to firm this morning, though the recorded business was con lined to a. reported sale of Bank of New Zealand* at 48s. Several banking shares showed improvement, particularly New Zealand*, Commercials, and Reserves. There was also a better inquiry for insurance shares, which had a scarcity of sellers. Meat preserving shares drew a strong inquiry at yesterday’s rates generally, though Refrigerating contributing* advanced Id on both the buying \tnd selling quotations. Buyers of" Crystal Ices offered Is more, but this failed to move sellers. Dunedin and Kaikorai Trams also had improved inquiry. Little change was recorded in the brewery section.. In the gold mining section Bell-Hoopers appeared to be improving slightly. Gillespies were easier, as were Nokomais. Okaritos were firmer, and Waitahus wore wanted at 4s 4d, with sellers 3d away.
