RUGBY FOOTBALL.

TO THE EDITOR Sir, —“ Explanation ” is surprised at Trevathan being kept as an emergency tor , the Otago representative team. So am I. On Irevathan s games for Otago this season he is very lucky to he emergency still., “Explanation ” says he is sound. I agree, hut ho is not a representative first (ivc-cighth. “Explanation” places Martin as a second ■ five-eighth. Strange; he has played first five-eighth all this season. As regards Taylor, he may not have played a great game at centre, but we have not had a representative centre so far this season who lias played any better. If the selectors were to drop all representative backs who have played one had game tins season wo would have the half-back only left in the team. “ Explanation should he thankful we have a very fine forward pack.—l am, etc., September 12. Five-eighth.
