Linoleum that is ■ polished looks dingy and gveasy-looking alter a while, and needs treatment to remove all the old polish. Soak a cloth in paraffin, and have a bucket of soapy 'rater in which Ims boon added a little ammonia. Use the paraffin cloth and this water to wash the linoleum, rinsing well with cool water and drying well. Leave the floor to dry thoroughly, then repolish in the ordinary way, and your linoleum will look like new. And you will find that a paraffin rag will clean your hearth tiles better than washing. Do not use the paraffin whilst yon have a fire, or there is the risk of the vapour catching fire, with danger to oneself. Do you find that the heels of your stockings become stained through contact with the leather linings of your shoes? And those stains refuse to budge with ordinary washing. But, if you rub the heels with a cut lemon, leaving tho stockings for a time, then wash in the ordinary way, these stains will wash out. Have you a damp brick floor in your house or larder? If so, you can soon remedy this with a waterglass solution, the same as used for pickling eggs. Have the solution the same strength as for pickling eggs, and paint the floor thoroughly with this, allow to dry, and apply two more coats, drying thoroughly between each application.
