In the final of the women’s golf championship, Mrs Robinson defeated Miss Bessie Gaisford, 4 and 3. Finishing the morning round of the associates’ Australian golf title final all square frith the New Zealand star, Mrs Robinson played superbly in the afternoon, and at the thirty-first had a commanding lead of 4 up. Ideal weather favoured the match, which was witnessed by about 1.500 people. Miss Gaisford played faultlessly prior to going to lunch, but during the afternoon she had the misfortune on a number of occasions either to land in rain-filled bunkers or lip holes, and, with Mrs Robinson’s play being of such a bigli standard, Miss Gaisford could not afford to make slips. Miss Gaiaford consistently outdrove lier opponent, but both played their seconds and approaches beautifully. Mrs Robinson, liowever, had a frequent, putting advantage- on the greens.
