PROTEST BV JOURNALISTS’ INSTITUTE Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, September 11. (Received September 12, at 11 a.m.) The conference of the Institute of .Journalists passed a resolution deploring newspapers engaging county and ex-county cricketers, footballers, tennis players, and golfers to describe games, as it created an impression that sporting journalists were incompetent. It urged the institute’s council to draw the attention of the M.C.C., the Rugby Union, and other bodies to the abuses of men posing as amateurs and drawing higher pay from sport than would be possible if they were professionals.
