BACK TO WINTER
BUZZARD IN TARANAKI [Per Unites Press Association.] NEW PLYMOUTH, September 11. A fierce south-east gale has plunged Taranaki back into mid-winter conditions, and a blizzard on Egmont threatens to assume the proportions of the snowstorm in July. At North figment the drifts are 4ft deep, and snow is still falling. Efforts are being made to keep the roads to the hostels open for traffic. FURTHER CANTERBURY SNOWFALL CHRISTCHURCH, September 11. Cold, stormy weather continues over Canterbury, being particularly severe in the back country. There was a further snowfall early this morning, but fortunately it was light, and no additional losses of lambs are reported.
