RAGING SENSATION A TRAINER ARRESTED Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, September 11. (Received September 11. at 11 a.m.) Investigations lasting several -weeks have resulted m a man named J. H. O’Connor, trainer of the racehorse Comedy Jim, being arrested and Comedy Jim seized by the police. The Northern Rivers Racing Association and the police allege that Comedy Jim was raced at Grafton and Casino, where he won races, and that the gelding is identical with a horse called Borapine. which won races in country towns of New South Wales. Prior to O’Connor’s arrest at Toowoomba, Queensland, the Northern Rivers Racing Association disqualified him and Comedy Jim for life. HEAVY-WEIGHT BOXING PETERSEN BEATS GAINS A RECORD ATTENDANCE. LONDON, September 10. (Received September 11, at 1 p.m.) In a fifteen rounds bout for the Empire ; heavy-weight championship at Wliite City Petersen, the holder, defeated Gains, who retired in the thirtenth round. There was a record attendance of 64,000. Petersen forced the pace, although Gains was cleverer in ringcraft, enabling him to avoid much heavy punishment. Petersen landed terrific blows in the thirteenth round, and Gains reeled at the gong. He staggered to his corner and the towel was thrown in. ANOTHER WIN FOR COOK LONDON, September 10.
