SHIPPING AT SOUTHAMPTON (British Official Wireless.) Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. RUGBY, September 7. The port of Southampton is ju the midst of one of the most crowded periods it has experienced in the past two or three years, and it is estimated that, in the three days ending to-mor-row, the tonnage of shipping arriving and departing will total about 649,000. The vessels being handled include twenty-seven liners. Four arrivals and five departures arc liners concluding, or setting out on ; holiday cruises,, and eight ships leaving port arc taking returning holiday-makers hack to the United States and .Canada.
