RHODES SCHOLARSHIPS
THE AUCKLAND NOMINEES [Pee United Press Association.! AUCKLAND, September 10. _ The Auckland University College s nominees for the Rhodes Scholarship were selected to-day. They are John Derek Lewis and Eric Percival Haslam. Lewis, aged twenty-one years, is an old boy of King’s College. He won a University National Scholarship in 1932. He is on the executive of the Students’ Association, is a keen cricketer, captained the Auckland Junior Representatives in 1931, and has since played senior grade. ■ Haslam, aged twenty-two, is an old boy of the Southland and Timaru Boys’ High Schools. He was dux of Timaru in lf)30, and won a university entrance scholarship. He has graduated 8.A., and is now reading tor honours in economics. He is president of the Students’ Association.
