After a discussion with an official of the Public Works Department extend-, ing over an hour the twenty men wha refused work at the Tauhei relief camp reiterated their intention of standing firm until more equitable pay is pro* vided. No undertakings could bo given,but it is probable that the position will be reviewed by the department,In the meantime the men still refuse ta work, although returned to tha camp this'evening. An increase of pay, the elimination of certain alleged discrepancies, the provision of medical equipment, and a pure water supply ara among the improvements demanded.
