BRITAIN’S HEW STATION (British Official Wireless.) Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright RUGBY, September 6. The British Broadcasting Corporation’s new dual programme transmitting station at Droitwich was brought into commission to-day. Its long-wave transmitter, which replaces Daventry, is designed for a power of 150 kilowatts to its aerial, which is at least three times that of any station previously built by the 8.8. C. The aerial is supported by masts 700 feet high, the highest previously, used by the 8.8. C. being 500 feet. During the next four weeks the Droitwich station, which cost £250,000, and Daventry station will take turns in broadcasting a radio programme in 1,500 metres wav© length to accustom listners to the new station’s much stronger signals.
