MONTHLY MEETING A large attendance of members heard/ with evident pleasure an enjoyable programme, at last night’s monthly meeting of the Gaelic Society, held in the Returned Soldiers’ Social Hall. Chief A. M'Lachlan was in the chair, and associated with him were Chieftains Bard A. M'Lennan, W. H. M'Leod,' W. Keith Cameron, Colin Macdonald, and A. Matheson. Reference to the recent death of Mrs D, Matheson, who was an enthusiastic member from the club’s inception, was made by the presiding chief. A lament to her memory (‘ Lady Matheson of Lewis ’) was played by Piper Kenneth Cameron. The programme was opened with two items by the choir, conducted by Mr R. Scott, ‘Ri Guaillibh a Cheile ’ and ‘ An cluinn thu mi mo nighean donn. Other items in the programme were: Heel, by Miss Wheeler’s reel party— Misses Nonna Marshall, Betty Gerrie, Lorraine Ross, and Betty Brown; Mr J. Swan, songs, ‘ Lassie of Mine’ and ‘ Lang, Lang Syne ’; Gaelic songs—Mrs Hastie, ‘ Gaol nan Crunneag ’ and ‘ Gradh geal mo Cridh ’; Miss Margaret Macmillan, Seann triubhais; Miss CJaridge, songs, 1 1 Love the Moon ’ and ‘Pale Moon’; Mr J. Wilson,, songs, ‘ They’re Far, Far Awa ’ and ‘ The March of the Cameron Men ’; Piper Kenneth Cameron, selection on the Phiob Mor. Opening the second part of the programme, the choir gave ‘ Maire Mhin Mheall—Shuileaeh ’ and ‘ Air Fal-al-al 0’; Miss Margaret Murray, songs, '■ Within"a -Mile of Edinburgh’ and ‘An Eriskay Love Lilt’; Air H. Black,, songs, ‘ Be Kind, to Auld Grannie ’ and ‘ Macgregor’s Gathering ’; Master Jim Flett, ‘Swards’; Miss Dorothy Sligo, songs, ‘ Kind Robin Loves Me’ and ‘My, Heart is Sail 1 ’; Misses Margarot and Nellie Macmillan and Millie and Margie Baxter, Irish reel. Miss George and Mrs Matheson played the accompaniments and Mr Alex. M'Kenzie was master of ceremonies for the dance which followed the musical programme.
