SHORTWAVE WANDERINGS A noticeable increase in the signal strength of several stations was experienced during last week, and as the spring months are recognised as the peak period for distant reception, listeners should be on the alert for stations seldom heard. According to advice received from England, VUB, Bombay, is testing on 31.36 metres, and the Calcutta station, VDC (49.1 metres) has also been heard. These stations should be audible hero between 3 and 4 a.in.

L.C.L., Jeloy, Norway, is reported to bo testing under the call LKJI on 31.46, 48.94, 60.98, and 73.17 metres. A further station lias been added to the already overcrowded 48 metre band —HJIABF, Barranquilla, Colombia, ,is operating upon 48.47 metres. From Australia comes the information. that the service supplied by VK3LR, may be discontinued. This transmitter is used to provide a programme .to the districts not served by a, national station.

HC2RL, Ecuador^(46.os metres), besides operating on Wednesdays, has been logged several days, testing and working Americans.
