Mrs Brown was interviewing an applicant for the post of cook. “ Let me see, now/' she said, “are you energetic?” Cook shrugged her shoulders. “ Yes,” she replied. “ I’m what you might call one of those people that’s always on the go,” “Oh,” replied Mrs Brown, with a frown. “I much prefer someone with er—r —staying power, you know!”
