EMPIRE SETTLEMENT
THE MIGRATION QUESTION COMMITTEE’S REPORT. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyrighi ■ LONDON, September 6. A 93-page Blue Book has been issued containing the report of the- interdepartmental committee on migration, of which Mr'Malcolm MacDonald was chairman. Copies have been sent to all the dominion Governments for consideration and suggestions. The report emphasises that economic recovery must precede resumption of migration, for it would bo useless to attempt to settle men in the dominions until markets are assured for their products. But anticipating that the economic difficulties would be merely temporary, the_ committee examined every aspect of migration with a view to ultimately reaching a common policy. The committee expresses the opinion that when economic recovery begins there is no reason why British migration to the dominions should not again reach a figure between 150,000 and 250,000 a year at comparatively small expense to the, Governments concerned.
