Mr Wiley Post, enveloped by an anode rubber uniform and cylindrical helmet that gave him the appearance of a deep-sea diver, took the Winnie Mae to a height of over 40,000 feet as a prelude to an attempt to establish a new altitude record for heavier-than-air machines. He spent two hours testing the machine and the • apparatus. He hopes to reach; 60,000 feet to-morrow.
