NO. 9 AUTHORITY The following decisions in respect to applications for licenses placed before the No. 9 Transport Licensing Authority at its recent sittings have been announced : H. Wilson and Son (Duribaek). —The opinion of the authority was that it had not been shown that a route license to Dunedin was necessary or desirable, and tho application for such a license was declined. A renewal of license was granted for two vehicle authorities, to operate over an area included in the Waihemo County, for all general carting. E. Frame and Co. (Palmerston).— Renewal of license granted for two vehicle authorities, to operate in tho Waihemo county with a route license to Moonlight and to Kartigi fro general carting. Route license to Dunedin granted for not more than a total of three return trips per week. South Road Services Ltd. (Balclutha). —Application for amended time table refused on grounds that present time table was fixed by the authority in relation to other services, and it was not the policy of the authority to allow two services to start at the same time. The schedule of fares was amended in the following respects only : —DunedinHenley 2s 6d single, 4s Gd return. John Mackie Coulter (Kaitangata).— The authority was not satisfied that the service was either justified or necessary or desirable, and the renewal of the license was declined. John Smith Leckie; (Milburn).—Renewal granted to operate from Milton to Hoiilcy, Milton to Crichton, Milton to Manuka Creek for farm produce, merchandise, and live stock, with a route license to and from Burnside on Wednesday or sale day in each week, restricted to carrying stock only: one vehicle authority. Richard, Leckie (Milburn) .—Application for transfer of license from John Smith Leckie to .Richard Leckie granted. , Leicester Winny _ (Dunedin). —The authority was not satisfied that'the service was either necessary or desirable, owing to the number of other services operating in the district, and the application for a license was declined. Foote and Co. Ltd. (Dunedin).—Renewal of license granted for eight vehicle authorities, to operate in areas (a) for the cartage of petrol and oil in bulk or in drums over Canterbury and Otago; .(b) 'over Otago and Canterbury as far north as the Rangitata River for gravel and metal carting and contracts for the Public Works Department and local,authorities; (c) for the cartage of heavy merchandise over a radius of sixty miles from the Dunedin Post 'Office. Subject to certain conditions. Clutha River Board (Balclutba). — Application for amendment of license for extra vehicle authority declined, because of the number of carriers and vehicles operating in the area.. Renewal of license granted for one vehicle authority within a defined area for 1 farm produce and general. Archibald M'Kellar (Alexandra) . 'Application for route license AlexandraDunedin declined. Renewal granted for two vehicle authorities to operate in a defined area for carting miscellaneous, mails, cream, fruit, wool, coal, and live stock. Route license granted from Alexandra to Roxburgh railway station on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. George Herbert Fpx (Alexandra). — Route license, to Dunedin declined, as the Railways Department provided an efficient service and the through services seriously affected the railway feeder services. Renewal of license for two vehicle authorities to operate in a defined area for general 'goods, wool, hides, tallow, petrol, coal, timber, fruit, rabbits, cement, etc. Robins and Co. (Dunedin). —Renewal of license declined on the grounds that the Railways Department adequately served the district and that through services seriously affected ,tbe railway feeder services. James M'Laughlin (Evans Flat). — Route license Dunedin-Queenstowu refused as the railway service was adequate. Renewal of license granted for one vehicle authority to operate in a defined area for general merchandise. John Watson Maxwell (Dunedin). — License granted to operate over route Dunedin to Shingle Creek with the right to deviate at Ettrick and Dumbarton and to Miller’s Flat, with the special condition that goods are not to be picked up or carried or delivered to any point between Dunedin and Johnstone and Johnstone and Dunedin; one vehicle authority. Charles Edwin Griffin (Macraes Flat) . —Route license to Dunedin declined, as it was considered by the authority neither necessary nor desirable. Renewal of license for o.ne vehicle authority granted to operate in a defined area. Route license granted from Palmerston to Shag Point for coal only and route license from Dunbaok to Palmerston for general goods. "Godfrey Foster (Roxburgh).—Renewal of license granted for one vehicle authority to operate in a defined area for carting general merchandise, wool, fruit, and farm produce. John Comrie Campbell Shanks (Kurow).—Renewal of license granted for two vehicle authorities to operate over defined areas for the carriage of general goods. Mrs Fanny M'Atamney (Patearoa) . Renewal of license granted for one vehicle authority, to operate over a defined area, for carting wool, grain, manure, live stock, general merchandise, coal, etc. ■ O’Malley Bros. (Ranfurly).—Renewal of license granted for one vehicle authority to operate over a defined area with the right to run to Paerau for tho purpose of carrying goods to and from their own people only and the right to <iart petrol to Paerau and return the empties. ■ Mrs Margaret Millar (Ranfurly).— Renewal of license granted for one vehicle authority to operate on a defined area for carting wool, coal, oil, petrol, and sundries. Authority granted to operate over a route from Ranfurly to Patearoa for the purpose of carrying petrol and oil products only, Stanley Matthew Brenssell .(Edieyale).—Renewal of license granted for "one vehicle authority to operate in a defined area, with an extension of route to Coal Creek for the purpose of carting coal, subject to the condition that only chaff is carted on the trip to Coal Creek and that the coal is carted on the return journey. John Calder Mowat (Dunedin) .—Renewal of license granted for one vehicle authority, to operate in the Clutha. Bruce, Taieri, Waikouaiti, Waihemo, and Waitaki counties, with the addition of the Maniototo County, for the purpose of carting gravel, shingle, and road metal for the Public Works Department and local bodies. ; William John Carley (Mosgiel).— License granted with the right to carry four passengers only, subject to the special condition that the licensee does not pick up and set down the same pas senders between Mosgiel and Dunedin, both points inclusive. Fares: MosgiolOutram Is single; Mosgiel-Dunedin, Is Gd single; Outram-Dunedin, 2s Cd; single; all other journeys at the rate of 3d per mile. .
