It is expected that the expedition will reach Khartoum in the middle of January. * * * * 0 The ship Lastingham, from London to Wellington, wrecked on Jackson’s Head, Cook Strait. Eighteen lives were lost. The ship went ashore in a gale at 10 o’clock, at night. A terrific sea was running, and the vessel became a total wreck in less than two hours. The five passengers on board, Captain Morrison and his wife, and the third officer were among the drowned. Thirteen of the crew were saved.
