DUNEDIN SCOTTISH SOCIETIES

The monthly meeting of the council of the Dunedin Scottish Societies was hold on Tuesday, Mr A. M'Millan presiding over a good attendance of delegates. ~ , . > Correspondence was considered from Captain R. H. Nimmo, of Wellington, and the Minister of Pensions, the Hon. J. G. Cohbe, in regard to the petition which the council had submitted m reference to reciprocity of pensions between Great Britain and the dominion. The Minister’s reply gave full details or the present position, ana stated that the matter would ho fully investigated by a parliamentary committee this ses-; sion and reported on to the House of Representatives. ' A report was submitted on the social evening recently held by the council to entertain executive members of societies affiliated to the council, and it was agreed that the gathering had done much to strengthen the good reeling existing between the different Scottish societies of the city. . Advice was received of the carnival to" be conducted by the Piping and Dancing Association, and it was agreed that the council extend its patronage and support.
