NUISANCES.
TO THE EDITOR . ’ 'Sir, The tramway authorities erected a seat at the top of Frederick street for the convenience of waiting passengers who travel by bus to Maori Hill. It is mostly used by “ hardbeats ” and those unfortunate peopla who have to use crutches to assist their locomotion, who sit and enjoy l ,; eir smoke in the sun.;. But'there is no reason • why these people should expectorate on the footpath to the annoyance of passing pedestrians. I will take the risk of saying that Dunedin is the worst city in the four centres for dirty footpaths and filthy stray dogs. I consider that the police 'should have the power to interview any person expectorating on the footpath, and also to collect stray dogs.—-1 am, etc., Julv 31. ■ , ■ Health.
