TH€ KING'S ACCESSION ARRANGEMENTS EXPLAINED (British Official Wireless.) Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, RUGBY, July 30. (Received July 31, at noon.) In the House of Lords, Lord, Hailsham announced that the King and Queen had been graciously pleased to approve the recommendation of tie Prime Minister that the twenty-fifth anniversary of the King’s- succession, which would fall on Monday, May 6, 1935, should be recognised in a fitting manner. The Government was making the necessary arrangements. The title of, “ Silver Jubilee ” had been officially adopted for next year. The King desired that the celebrations should be on a local basis, and that his subjects should, wherever practicable, have an opportunity of observing the occasion near their homes. The official celebrations in London would extend from May 6 to May IS. Accession Day (May 6) would be » public holiday throughout the -United Kingdom, and the celebrations would be inaugurated by » thanksgiving service in St. Paul’s Cathedral, attended by the King and Queen and other members of the Royal Family. The Lord President of the Council (Mr Baldwin) had been in communication with the Prime Minister of Canada,, Australia,- New Zealand, South Africa, and the President of the Executive of the Irish- Free State. The replies received showed that the sug-gestion-had been warmly welcomed' fay the four Prime Ministers, but owing to political circumstances it was not possible to say in every case whether it: would be practicable for the Prune Minister- to attend. The President; of the Executive of the Irish Free State had intimated that in the existing circumstances it would not be possible for the Free State Government to accept the invitation. A similar invitation had been sent to the Prime .Minister of Rhodesia, It was hoped to . take advantage of the presence in London of the dominion Prime Ministers to discuss any questions of political importance outstanding.
