SOUTHLAND BEATS OTAGO United Press Association.] INVERCARGILL, July 28. The annua] basketball fixtures Otago versus Southland were played to-day at the Drill Hall In the second grade. Southland defeated Otago, 28-14, Southland having the advantage throughout. In a fast open game in the senior section, Southland defeated Otago, 18-10. Otago lost Griffiths (captain) with ankle injury in the second spell. Southland gained the advantage early in the game, attacking vigorously. Half-time: Southland 8, Otago 5. In the second half, Otago were improving when their combination was upset by the loss of P. Griffiths, and the team was unable to regain the advantage. LDOAL GAMES FIRST GRADE. Roslyn 15, Rawhiti 10.
