BAKERS CUT PRICES
MOVE ON AUCKLAND BREAD MARKET ["Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, July 29. A sudden reduction in the price_ of bread was made on Saturday morning by a leading firm of Auckland bakers, resulting in the 21b loaf being retailed at 4|d instead of 5d to SJ-d. Several other firms also reduced their prices to a similar extent. ■ A meeting of the Auckland Master Bakers’ Association was held oil Saturday night to consider the situation. It is understood, however, that the firm which made the original reduction was not represented, and a deputation was appointed to interview it. In the meantime it is expected that . prices will be fixed by the individual firms and bakers, and' several have indicated their intention of continuing to sell at cut rates until a settlement is reached.
